Parenting is a tough task. The professionals at Behavioral Health Resources support parents with this task. There are two workshopsavailable.
Becoming A Love & Logic Parent; is a weeklygroup designed to help parents of preschool, (18 months) to teen-agedchildren. This class is offered to the community and is opened toanyone who wishes to enroll in this seven-week curriculum. Thisworkshop has a rolling entrance, meaning a person can enter at anysession and proceed through the next six sessions.
Love andLogic is a philosophy of raising and teaching children which allows theparents to be happier, empowered, and more skilled in theirinteractions with their children. Love allows children to grow throughtheir mistakes. Logic allows children to live with the consequences oftheir choices. Love & Logic is a way of working with children thatputs parents back in control, teaches children to be responsible andprepares young people to live in the real world, with its many choicesand consequences. Anyone will benefit from the Love and Logic approach.This approach offers adults an alternative way to communicate withchildren.
Sessions are held every Monday evening from, 7:00 ~8:00 pm, located in the Cedar Glen Center, 3630 Capital Ave., SW. Thecost of this workshop is $15.00 per person/per session, and $25.00 forcouples per session. The fee includes materials and the Love &Logic Manual. Starting Monday June 22, from 1:00 ~ 2:30PM will be a Love & Logicparenting class for DHS referred parents or guardians. This program hasthe seven sessions of the regular Love and Logic program, with fiveadditional sessions added to the curriculum: two on anger management,one on Positive self care and relaxation, one on domestic violence andthe effects on the children, and a session on the importance ofschedules, routines and family ties.
This class is for courtappointed or referred clients from DHS. These are the clients that DHSwould like to be responsible for the class fee and have documentationof their attendance and levels of participation. The cost is $20.00 persession. BHR will bill DHS for the individuals that attend the group,accompanied with the notes of the session. If a parent is beingreferred, and they are responsible for the session fees, payment forsession must be made prior to the start of class. Cash or debit card isaccepted; we apologize we are unable to accepts checks or credit cards.
Customers must pre-register with BHR. This is a 12 week class withrolling entrance, meaning a person may enter the program at any time.Only three absences are allowed; with the fourth absence the person isasked to restart the program. Parents must attend all twelve sessionsto graduate from the program. Homework assignments must be completed,if they are not, the class is not counted towards the twelve. Classmembers are expected to participate.

Forcourt appointed and referred DHS customers; Maryann Rigoni requests,the following information to be faxed to her prior to the clients firstclass: The reason for the referral, past history of parenting, legalissues involved, probation officer information, living situation,mental and physical health issues. Please provide a contact or casemanager’s contact information.
